| Another way to test the seal formed
by your respirator around your face is to perform a negative pressure test.
Negative Pressure Test
Begin by closing the respirator's inhalation valves with your hands, then
breathe in slowly. The facepiece will collapse slightly. Hold your breath
for about 10 seconds. And if during this time no air leaks in from around
the facepiece, you know you have a good fit. If you do not have a good
fit, readjust the head harness straps, and repeat the pressure test.
NOTE: It is a
good idea to perform both the positive and negative pressure tests on your
respirator before using it.
